  Katchie Cartwright Katchie Cartwright, PhD, combines an extensive background in musical performance as a flutist and singer with ethnomusicology, specializing in improvisational traditions of the world. As a Fulbright Senior Specialist for the U.S. Department of State, she has worked in Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa. Dr. Cartwright has served on the board of directors of the Hague-based International Association of Schools of Jazz and as longtime chair of the Sisters in Jazz mentorship program for the International Association for Jazz Education. She received a doctorate in ethnomusicology from The Graduate School of the City University of New York, an MA in music from Queens College, and a BS in flute performance from The City University of New York. She is currently a professor of music at Northwest Vista College, a post she has held since 2006. Her discography includes a variety of albums under her own name and as a side musician. She performs in The San Antonio/Austin area as a freelance flutist and with her world-jazz project, Katchie & le Monde Caché. Katchie hosts Caminhos do Jazz (Jazz Paths) Saturday mornings on KRTU 91.7 FM in San Antonio, a program offering world mixtures and collaborations, with an emphasis on Brazilian jazz in our backyard and abroad.

  Markus Haas I had my first show on KRTU in the summer of 1995 at the behest of my station manager friend who needed bodies to keep the station on the air, back in the days before automation systems. I knew nothing about jazz, but it didn't stop me. Now, years later, I've learned a thing or two and host the Haas Party on Wednesday nights from 7 - 10 PM.

  Henry Brun Henry Brun, “Mr. Ritmo” to his fans, is hailed as one of the most talented and hardest working professional musicians and band leaders in Southwest U.S. Brun has recorded over 780 albums, including numerous Grammy and gold / platinum-award winning productions. In 1989, Henry Brun formed The Latin Playerz Orchestra, a popular group noted for its blend of Latin, Rhythm and Blues, Swing and straight-ahead Jazz. The group regularly performs throughout the U.S. and abroad, including Cuba’s Festival Internacional Del Caribe, Puerto Rico’s Heineken Jazz Festival, Mexico’s Festival International de Jazz, France’s Jazz a Vienne, Switzerland’s Montreaux Jazz Festival, Taiwan’s Taichung International Jazz Festival, to name a few. Brun’s professional discipline and dedication to musical excellence has earned him the opportunity to perform and record with Arturo Sandoval, Vicki Carr, Charo, Los Lobos, Texas Tornados, Little Joe y La Familia and Los Super Seven, amongst others.
